Frequently Asked Questions

General Information & Getting Started

What issues and concerns do you specialize in treating? Centered Wellness Collective provides trauma-informed therapy specializing in domestic violence recovery, sexual abuse and assault, childhood trauma, narcissistic abuse, and complex trauma (C-PTSD). We also support clients navigating anxiety, panic, depression, relationship challenges, grief, codependency, life transitions, and stress/burnout.

Who founded Centered Wellness Collective? The practice was founded by Charlotte Jarvis, LMHC—a trauma therapist, EMDR clinician, EMDR consultant, and domestic violence/sexual assault advocate. Charlotte has over a decade of experience spanning direct advocacy, shelter leadership, legal advocacy, and clinical care.

Where are your services located? We offer specialized trauma therapy services, clinical consultation, and intensives in Washington State.

Therapy Approaches & EMDR

What therapeutic modalities do your clinicians use? Our therapists utilize evidence-based, trauma-focused approaches tailored to your needs. Primary modalities include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, somatic-informed therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) principles.

What is EMDR therapy, and how does it work? EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that uses bilateral stimulation to help the brain process and heal from distressing or traumatic memories that remain "stuck". It helps reduce the emotional intensity and physical responses connected to those memories.

Do I have to re-tell all the details of my trauma during EMDR? No. EMDR does not require you to share every detail of your trauma to heal. Your therapist will work with you to establish safety, develop nervous system regulation skills, and proceed at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Specialized Services: Intensives & Retreats

What are Trauma Therapy Intensives? Trauma intensives offer extended, structured sessions (such as longer single sessions or multi-day blocks) rather than traditional weekly therapy. Grounded in EMDR and somatic work, intensives allow clients to focus deeply on specific trauma memories or patterns and accelerate progress in a concentrated timeframe.

Are therapy intensives right for everyone? Intensives are ideal for individuals who feel "stuck" in weekly therapy, need a flexible format due to busy schedules, or want focused support for a specific event. During an initial consultation, we will assess whether an intensive format fits your current level of stability and goals.

Do you offer healing retreats? We are currently developing trauma-informed retreats designed to provide a restorative space for deeper healing, nervous system regulation, and grounding outside a traditional office setting. You can join our interest list on the Retreats page to receive updates!
