EMDR Therapy in Washington State
A Trauma Therapy Approach Designed to Help You Process What You’ve Been Through
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy approach that helps the brain process and heal from distressing experiences that continue to impact your present life.
At Centered Wellness Collective, we specialize in using EMDR therapy to support individuals healing from trauma, including domestic violence, sexual abuse, childhood trauma, complex trauma, and other painful life experiences.
Many people come to therapy knowing something has affected them, but still feel stuck — whether that shows up as anxiety, emotional triggers, relationship difficulties, intrusive memories, shame, or feeling disconnected from themselves. EMDR helps address the experiences and beliefs that may continue to shape how you feel, respond, and relate to yourself and others.
How EMDR Works
When we experience overwhelming or traumatic events, the brain may have difficulty fully processing what happened. Memories can remain “stuck” and continue to feel present, leading to intense emotions, body responses, or patterns that feel difficult to change.
EMDR uses a structured therapeutic process, including bilateral stimulation, to help the brain reprocess distressing memories and reduce the emotional intensity connected to them.
EMDR does not require you to share every detail of your trauma in order to heal. Your therapist will work with you to build safety, develop coping skills, and move through treatment at a pace that feels appropriate.
